David E. Harp, computer consultant
David E. Harp, 77, of Millsboro, formerly of Newark, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
He was born in Ionia, Mich., March 8, 1939, son of the late Joseph and Hazel (Davis) Harp. David proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1957-69. After leaving the Navy, he joined the Army Reserves where he retired in January 1981.
Mr. Harp became an independent computer consultant in 1979. He primarily worked for the Blood Bank of Delaware, and retired after almost 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro. David enjoyed fishing, cooking, and going to the Harrington casino. He also loved the life on the water, as he owned several house boats throughout his lifetime. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a man with the ability to fix anything.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kay H. Harp, in 2014. He is survived by his second wife, Patricia Graziano Harp; a son, Joseph Harp and his wife Nancy of Merritt Island, Fla.; a daughter, Laura Hays of Mount Laurel, N.J.; two grandsons, Gregory Hays of Mount Laurel, Fla. and Brian Harp of Louisiana.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in David's name to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
