Delaware Beach Storage Center breaks ground

Local officials and community members joined investment and development partners to celebrate the ground breaking of Delaware Beach Storage Center – the newest and largest climate controlled self storage facility in Sussex County.
With hard hats in place and shovels in hand, officials helped local owners Blair and Timarie Thompson break ground for their latest business venture.
“We have been studying the self storage industry for several years. Our research showed the need for heated and cooled storage units and we aimed to meet the demand with an innovative, convenient product,” said Blair Thompson.
A locally owned and family-run business slated to open in 2016, Delaware Beach Storage Center will offer more than 106,000 square feet of storage space including 675 rental units ranging in size from 25 square feet to as large as 400 square feet.
“With the growth in Sussex County I am excited to see these entrepreneurs building such a modern facility to accommodate our community’s needs. I support local small business and look forward to the boost this venture will bring to the local coastal economy,” said Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes.
Drawing on tradespeople from across the community and region, construction is anticipated to take 11 months and is being financed by Fulton Bank NA.
“We are excited to partner with Delaware Beach Storage Center on their new state-of-the-art facility that will serve the Delaware beach community, said Randy Taylor, president, Fulton Bank, Delaware Division. “Fulton Bank is committed to working with local businesses and continuing the growth of the Sussex County economy.”
This brand new, state-of-the-art facility is at 32244 Nassau Road, off Route 1 in Lewes at the Nassau Bridge. The three-story building will have the latest in security innovations and will provide gated access for customers. The new complex will also have gated and secured storage space for vehicles, RVs and boats.
The facility will provide both commercial and residential customers with multilayered security measures and top-of-the-line technology to enhance their storage experience, officials said. Amenities such as the use of a 2016 moving truck, ample carts and complimentary water, coffee and wifi are available to customers.
“Every detail of the project is being planned around the lives of our customers to give them an easy and convenient storage solution. We believe the easier the storage experience is for the clients, the happier they will be," Thompson said.
“We are looking forward to bringing a secure, clean and modern facility to Sussex County, and will give our customers the best customer service possible,” said Timarie Thompson.
