Delaware Grantmakers hire Cynthia Pritchard as new president and CEO
The Delaware Grantmakers Association announced that Cynthia Pritchard, CFRE, is its new president and CEO. Pritchard will fill the vacancy created by Wil Sherk's retirement. The selection was made after a national search and selection process. Pritchard will begin her work for DGA in February.
"We are very pleased to announce this appointment," said Daryl Graham, DGA board chair. "Cynthia is a wonderful hire as DGA's next president and CEO, because she has the knowledge, skills, experience, passion and commitment to lead DGA into the future, as articulated in DGA's new strategic plan. We have found our next chief advocate for the organization and Delaware's philanthropic community. She has served nonprofits in a leadership level in program, fundraising, operations and as an executive, and has a breadth of perspective and experience."
Pritchard's resume includes over 30 years of executive planning, administration, communications and programmatic experience in the nonprofit and private sectors. Pritchard has served as executive staff for United Way of Greater Augusta, Maine; Workforce Plus, a regional Department of Labor office; ACS, Department of Medicaid Services - customer call center; National Multiple Sclerosis Society; American Red Cross; and Nationwide Insurance. She also served as adjunct faculty in Blue Ridge Community College's Student Development Program, and has served as a board member and leader of multiple local, state and national nonprofit organizations. Prior to this appointment, Pritchard was president and CEO for the United Way of Greater Augusta, developing and implementing fund development programs, community impact models, and providing strategic and operational direction for the organization.
Pritchard demonstrated a remarkable capacity to galvanize effective coalitions and partnerships through her orientation to collaborative processes, an approach the DGA board deems critical in expanding the reach and impact of the nonprofit sector. She also led the state of Virginia in Public Policy for United Way Worldwide at the state and national level, as well as bringing together the United Way organizations across the state to develop statewide collaborations.
"I look forward to serving and partnering with the philanthropic community in this new capacity," said Pritchard. "I am dedicated to this sector because it provides vital investments to the critical needs of Delawareans. The Delaware Grantmakers Association plays a key role in supporting and developing meaningful contributions to this state's quality of life."
The Delaware Grantmakers Association provides information, education, networking and collaboration opportunities to individuals, corporations and foundations who make significant charitable contributions in Delaware, and to strengthen philanthropy through public information and advocacy. It also works to increase the number of institutional donors supporting nonprofits in the state.
