Delaware Restaurant Industry Cornerstone Awards set Oct. 24

The Delaware Restaurant Association will host the 20th annual Restaurant Industry Cornerstone Awards in a ceremony beginning at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at the Lighthouse Cove Events Center in Dewey Beach, with an after-party immediately following at Nalu.

Each year, the DRA celebrates and honors the contributions of Delaware’s restaurant industry, and the ways restaurants enrich and serve as the true cornerstones of neighborhood communities, the local economy and career opportunities for all.

Restaurant owners, operators, chefs, vendors, elected officials and industry supporters will gather again to toast to the resiliency, spirit and camaraderie of Delaware’s restaurant industry with fine food and cocktails, beer and wine from 25 stations, plus live music from Hot Sauce band.

Spotlighting the event will be the recognition of the 2022 Cornerstone Award winners Dennis and Carolyn Forbes of Cool Springs Fish Bar & Restaurant, Dover, and Restaurateurs of the Year, Robert Lhulier and Bill Irvin, Snuff Mill Restaurant, Butchery & Wine in Wilmington. 

A new category, Industry Impact Awards will be bestowed to “Red” Ryan Ennis of Lewes, owner and founder of Ryan Ennis Motivator and Life Beyond the Bar United, and Michelle Souza, Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits of Delaware.

The Cornerstone Award is given to restaurateurs that embody the spirit of hospitality; iconic operators that have ingrained themselves at the heart of their communities. Restaurateurs of the Year are celebrated for bringing attention to Delaware’s restaurant scene with their contributions to both the dining scene and their commitment to creating exemplary workplace culture and sustainable opportunities for their employees. The new Industry Impact Awards are given to those who have dedicated themselves to making a difference in the industry and lives of its workforce, and are highly respected amongst their peers and colleagues.
