Delaware trade leader reappointed to regional export council

January 29, 2022

The U.S. Department of Commerce has reappointed Carla Stone, president of World Trade Center Delaware, to the Mid-Atlantic District Export Council.

This appointment was announced by Joseph Hanley, acting deputy assistant secretary for U.S. field operations and national field director for the International Trade Administration.

For more than 40 years, district export councils have served the United States by assisting companies in their local communities with exports, promoting U.S. economic growth, and creating and sustaining new and higher-paying jobs in local communities. Each DEC member has been appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce secretary because of his or her recognized real-world expertise in international trade matters and commitment to volunteerism on behalf of the local exporting community. The Mid-Atlantic DEC serves Delaware plus parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

“I am pleased to be appointed to another term,” said Stone. “The district export council plays a major role in the planning and coordination of export activities for our region. It serves as a critical connection between Delaware’s business community and the U.S. Department of Commerce.”

The World Trade Center Delaware is a U.S. Trade and Investment Strategic Partner to the International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, and acts as a local partner to other U.S. government and international agencies such as Export-Import Bank of the United States, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency and the World Bank Group.

“By combining the resources of the U.S. Department of Commerce and WTC Delaware’s global network and other international partnerships, we can bring to Delaware companies the most accurate, timely, and cost-effective trade assistance services that allow them to become successful exporters. We are very proud of our relationship with the Mid-Atlantic District Export Council and of Carla’s appointment to it. She is quite deserving, and her role speaks well for World Trade Center Delaware,” said Charlie Tomlinson, World Trade Center Delaware board chair.

World Trade Center Delaware is the state’s premier international business and economic development resource. It is a member of the World Trade Centers Association, a global network of more than 320 world trade centers in nearly 100 countries that helps companies succeed in new markets, increase profitability, expand employment and attract investment.
