Delaware Watercolor Society reception set Sept. 13 at Lewes library
The Delaware Watercolor Society’s Signature Artist members will have their paintings on view through Monday, Sept. 30, in the main lobby at the Lewes Public Library.
An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13. It is free and open to the public.
More than 20 paintings represent the work of 13 DWS Signature Artist members and include water media such as acrylic, gouache and watercolor ink.
A Signature Artist is one whose work has been juried by the society to be of the highest level of proficiency. The designation is earned only when an individual can produce a body of work that clearly demonstrates a high level of consistency in originality, creativity, applied theoretical knowledge, compositional skills and technical competency in using watercolor.
Signature-level status is a valuable credential that allow artists to place the society’s initials after their signatures on their art. This status is a widely recognized, significant honor offered in most major art organizations.
Nick Serratore, award-winning artist and exhibitions director for the Rehoboth Art League, served as awards judge in selecting and presenting the five top awards.
