Delmarva Christian Schools has gotten off to a great start with over 450 students enrolled at the Georgetown and Milton campuses. The 2016-17 school year began with a barbecue and open house for prekindergarten through eighth-grade students at Delmarva Christian Milton Campus followed by a New Student Welcome Day at Delmarva Christian High School Aug. 22 and then an official start for all students at both campuses Aug. 23.
In response to the opening-day festivities, Kim Conran, parent of a first-grader, said “I am so grateful for all the staff members who make all the children feel comfortable and loved."
"The slow and steady start to school was intentional," said Director of Instruction Matt Kwiatkowski. "We recognize that this time can be stressful for students and their families. Our desire is to create an environment that is conducive to learning; therefore, we approach the first days of school, well, actually every day, the way our greatest teacher has taught us - to care for one another in every circumstance." The goal of being intentional and fully Christian is also at the core of Delmarva Christian's academic program, which is resonating with families throughout the area.
Delmarva Christian Milton Campus is experiencing steady growth as it celebrates its second year serving students. Transitioning to a hybrid-classical approach, the program consists of an innovative language arts and math curriculum, foreign language to include Spanish and Latin, computer technology use with a purpose, physical education, and visual and performing arts.
Delmarva Christian High School, serving students in ninth through 12th grades, is beginning its 13th year. Implementing a unique curriculum with national standards awareness, the DCHS program of study often exceeds state standards and fully prepares students for postsecondary experiences. Courses include Bible, English, math, science, social studies and Spanish, but, distinct to the high school continuum is a powerful triad of junior- and senior-year courses including Biblical Life Calling, Apologetics and Senior Thesis Project. Within them, students discuss and debate their foundational values, unique design, and personal mission statement as capstones to their experiences as DCS students.
Committed to excellence, Delmarva Christian Schools offers nondenominational, Christ-centered educational opportunities to students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in Milton and from ninth through 12th grade in Georgetown. Their mission is to proclaim the gospel by preparing students spiritually, academically and physically to know and do God's will in their lives.
