More than 70 artisans are set to display their wares Saturday, May 7, in what organizers call the kick-off of spring and summer events, the Dewey Beach Arts and Fun Fest.
“The festival has become a tradition for Mother’s Day shopping and for supporting local artists,” said Kelly Ranieri, executive director of Dewey Business Partnership, which she said is partnering with Dewey Beach Lions Club to hold the 10th annual event.
Last year’s event drew record crowds, Ranieri said, and she expects this year to be even bigger. Of the artists scheduled to show their work, 50 are returning, 20 are new and 10 have been with the festival since its beginning, she said.
In addition to coastal and beach-themed art, paintings and photography, jewelry, glass and ceramics, festival-goers can enjoy live music and refreshments along Dagsworthy Avenue bayside.
Developing Artist Collaboration will be on hand with its Out Of The Box interactive DIY children’s activities and demonstrations, Ranieri said.
A gallery walk of artwork by Rehoboth Elementary students will be on display in the Dewey Beach Lions Club at 115 McKinley Ave.
The Dewey Beach Lions Club Community Day will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 7, and will offer free activities and crafts, a moon bounce, carnival games and more. Participants are asked to bring in old glasses to donate to the club. Email mjclink@comcast.net or call 302-542-1124 for more details.
Parking will be restricted on Dagsworthy Avenue by 1 a.m., May 7, with the festival set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Ranieri said.
Public parking is free in Dewey until Sunday, May 15. Admission to the festival is free, but donations will be accepted at the door, Ranieri said. There is no rain date.
