A Dewey Beach scene from 1959 along Rehoboth Bay
October 8, 2019
This scene from 1959 show’s Wilson’s Pier along the upper reaches of Rehoboth Bay. It was a simple time in Dewey Beach when the season lasted from Memorial Day to Labor Day, few houses were insulated or heated for winter, and draining pipes was an important source of autumn income for local plumbers. The back of this postcard for Wilson’s Pier says the facility offers “excellent clamming, crabbing, fishing, boating, sailing and water skiing.”
