Dewey hosting movies and bonfires on the beach

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce and major sponsor Weis Markets announced that family movie and bonfire nights are underway on the beach in Dewey.

Movies start at approximately 8:30 p.m. Mondays on the beach at Dagsworthy Avenue in Dewey Beach. Glow necklaces are available for $1 or a donation.

Schedule for 2019 dates and movie titles:

July 1 - “Trolls “
July 8 - “Beauty and the Beast” (2017)
July 15 - “Finding Nemo”
July 22 - “Ralph Breaks the Internet”
July 29 - ”Peter Rabbit”
Aug. 5 - “Mary Poppins Returns”
Aug. 12 - “Incredibles 2”
Aug. 19 - “Hotel Transylvania 3”

For s’more fun, bonfires on the beach take place at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Dagsworthy Avenue in Dewey Beach. A donation of $1 or more gets roasters a jumbo marshmallow and stick to borrow for roasting, while supplies last.

Bonfire dates in Dewey Beach are July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31; and Aug. 7, 14 and 21. Parking in Dewey Beach is free from 5 to 11 p.m. Monday to Wednesday.

These events are weather-dependent. In the event of inclement weather, cancellations will be determined no later than 7 p.m. on movie days and 6 p.m. on bonfire days.

Notice of cancellation will be posted to the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce Instagram and Facebook pages. Staff will notify Dewey Beach accommodations of cancellations made prior to the start of an event. If weather is clear, events will take place as scheduled but may end early due to weather conditions.
