Diane L. Stayton, huge Elvis fan

Diane L. Stayton of Milford passed away peacefully Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Diane was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Dale and Ethel (Merritt) Mitchell.

She worked in the Seafood Department at SuperFresh Grocery Store and retired as manager several years ago.

Diane was an Elvis fan and loved collecting memorabilia. She enjoyed being barefoot and dancing. She loved cooking and baking and designated Tuesdays as "Diane Day," a day especially for her to enjoy cooking all day.

She had been an active member many years ago at the VFW and Loyal Order of Moose in Milford. She was also a Chowderhead and enjoyed Clam Jam. Diane also attended Easter Seals.

In addition to her parents, Diane is preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Vincent and Joan Mitchell.

She is survived by seven children: Debra Blessing and Russell of Milford, Donna Renee Stayton of Millsboro, Calvin Gillespie and Susan of Milford, Ronald Gillespie of Millsboro, Mark Gillespie and Lillian of Millsboro, Robert Stayton of Georgetown and Daniel Stayton of Millsboro; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 12, at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford with visitation after 4 p.m. Burial will be held privately.
