Different hours set for Milton Harvest Market Nov. 17

November 13, 2017

The Milton Farmers Market will offer the Third Annual Harvest Market from 12 to 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17, on the grass at Dogfish Head Brewery. The market offers just about everything for the Thanksgiving holiday table.

Delaware's only turkey farm, TA Farms, will bring fresh turkeys and turkey breasts in assorted sizes in its refrigerated truck. All turkeys as well as other meats from TA Farms are free-range, raised on TA's own homegrown feed without growth enhancers. To preorder selections and have them ready for pickup at the market, call TA Farms at 302-492-3030.

Need to sharpen cutlery? The Sharp Edge knife-sharpening truck will be at the market. Attendees can bring knives and scissors, and any tools that need a refined edge.

Alaska Wild will offer Alaska rockfish on sale for $12.95 a pound, in addition to other cold-water fish caught wild and flash-frozen right out of the ocean.

For seasonal vegetables and fruit, shoppers can visit the tents of local produce sellers TS Smith Farm and Stag Run Farms. Each will also have special holiday products, including cider donuts, honey and a few surprises. Stag Run will have a special sale on its fresh apples.

Speaking of apples, Backyard Jams and Jellies will offer homemade apple butter, plus creamy pumpkin butter, autumn chutney, spiced cranberries, cranberry-apple preserves and over 60 flavors of jellies, jams and mustards.

The Corn Exchange returns to set up its mobile food truck with special varieties of roasted corn-on-the-cob for on-site consumption or take-away. Flavors include original elote and esquites.

Pies, cakes, pastries and almost every dessert imaginable will be displayed abundantly under Pasqualini's canopy. Seasonal items include pumpkin rolls, pecan pies, pumpkin pies, fruit pies, lemon meringue pies and more.

Craving fudge? Many varieties of homemade creaminess will be at the Vanauken Fudge tent.

Blotto Gelato will have several flavors for the over-21 set made with adult beverages. Favorites are Drunken Pumpkin mixed with spiced rum, and Baked Apple made with bourbon and caramel. Other flavors are available without alcohol as an ingredient for the younger set.

Java Jukebox is a new vendor providing hot brewed coffee, hot cocoa, and hot cider to go, plus coffee beans and pastries.

For furry friends, Charlie's Treats brings healthy and delicious doggie snacks made with human-grade ingredients.

Last but not least, the Milton Garden Club members will set up their table at the Harvest Market with arrangements and centerpieces to grace any table. They will take orders for wreaths, mailbox covers, grave blankets and special arrangements throughout the holiday season.

As always, there will be live music and cold brews at Milton Farmers Market. Dogfish Head beer is served in frosty cans at the Beer Tent next to the performance area where Kent Schoch and Slinging Daisies will spin out trademark high-energy tunes. Picnic tables are set up nearby.

Plenty of free parking is available in DFH's huge parking lot. For more information, go to miltondefarmersmarket.org.
