Don’t let Grove Park dock slip away

February 28, 2025

I write to commend Dave and Michelle Green of Cape Water Tours for their tireless dedication to providing water taxi services in our community. Their recent letter to the editor underscores both the challenges they’ve faced and their steadfast commitment to sustainable, enjoyable water-based transportation and tourism.

The Grove Park dock is a long-sought amenity for locals and visitors alike. Unfortunately, the pandemic’s timing and management issues have delayed its potential to enhance waterfront access – a vision that aligns seamlessly with Cape Water Tours’ mission. It would be a shame to abandon the dock before it has had a fair chance to thrive. Entrusting its management to Dave and Michelle offers a practical, forward-thinking solution. With their proven expertise and deep investment in water taxi services, they are well positioned to responsibly oversee the dock and maximize its benefits for residents, businesses and tourists.

A reliable water taxi service linking Lewes and Rehoboth may not drastically reduce traffic in our region, but it would provide a valuable amenity. It would promote eco-friendly travel, raise awareness of the canal’s natural beauty and add a unique layer of charm to our coastal experience. I wholeheartedly support Cape Water Tours’ efforts and urge local leaders to recognize the value of sustaining and expanding this service.

Thank you, Dave and Michelle, for your ongoing work to keep our waterways accessible, enjoyable and sustainable.
