Donna F. Mulder, loving, generous woman
Donna F. Mulder, 66, of Georgetown, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022. She was born March 27, 1956, to parents Rose (DeJong) Mulder and Alvin G. Mulder in Sioux Center, Iowa, where she lived until enlisting in the Army after high school.
While serving in the Army, Donna was recruited to play basketball, and continue her education at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. Donna was a key member of the Elizabethtown women’s basketball team for four years and helped lead the team to its first NCAA National Championship in 1982. Donna received an academic scholarship and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1982 and later earned a master’s degree in taxation from Widener University. She then joined the firm Chubb & Associates in Pennsylvania, where she quickly rose to partner as a CPA. The firm merged with Pennsylvania accounting firm Brown, Shultz, Sheridan & Fritz, where she remained partner until moving to Delaware in 2008. It was there that she became owner of Tax & Accounting Associates in Lewes.
Donna was a well-respected member of the local business community and went out of her way to service her clients and to help those who were in need. Though she lived miles away from her family and lifelong friends, Donna made it a point to keep in touch. She faithfully attended family reunions and looked forward to the trips with her cherished high school friends “The Broads.” Most of all, she was loving, selfless, and compassionate to all her friends, family, and her beloved pets.
Donna enjoyed riding her bike, gardening and reading. The beach was her happy place, where she loved spending days with her lifelong partner Denise and their dog Bella. Throughout her life, Donna positively touched many people’s lives in many different ways. Her kind, loving and generous nature will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Donna was preceded in death by parents Alvin and Rose; and her siblings Gerald Mulder, Harold Mulder and Janice (Mulder) Altena. She is survived by her spouse, Denise Delesio of Georgetown; her siblings and in-laws: Al Mulder and Jo Meyer of Grand Rapids, Mich., Marlyce (Van Dyk) Mulder of Waupun, Wis., Ivan Mulder of Pella, Iowa, Stan and Elaine Altena of Sioux Center, Iowa, Phyllis (Mulder) and Curt Roelofs of Grand Rapids, Marv and Delaine (Kempers) Mulder of Sioux Falls, S.D., Alma (Mulder) and Ed Post of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Leon and Shirley (Vander Zeil) Mulder of Doon, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, and their children.
