Dorothy Buccheri Holmes, lived for her family

Dorothy (Dottie) Buccheri Holmes (nee Salafia), 82, of Millsboro, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Dorothy was born May 9, 1940, to the late Salvatore and Concetta Rose Salafia (nee Castagna) in Baltimore, Md. In 1961, Dottie married William James Holmes Sr. and went on to have five children, William Jr. and Robin Holmes, Joseph and Julie Holmes, Mark and Raquel Holmes, Lisa and Daniel Gray, and Mary Beth and Michael O’Neill. Dottie also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, Morgan, Michael, Miranda Holmes, Melissa Rye, Steven Jaron, Jeremy Levee, Breanna and Graham Dye, Aliza Holmes and fiancé Leonard DeFino, Marissa Holmes, Samuel Holmes and Friane Mitch Concepcion, Nikolaos, Natalie, Dominic, and Alexander Gray, and Ryan and Madison O’Neill; and four great-grandchildren, Asher Dye, Raven Jaron, McKinley Rye, Melbourne Rye. Dottie is also survived by her sister, Mary Ann Corona of York, Pa. Dottie lived for her family and only wanted her children to remain close. That was her only wish.

A visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 13, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes.
