The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration weekend kicked off Jan. 14 with a banquet at the CHEER Center in Georgetown.
Joining the festivities were Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long; Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown; Rep. Stell Parker Selby, D-Milton; and former Sen. Ernie Lopez. Peter Carter served as the keynote speaker.
