Energize Delaware funds Food Bank EVs and charging stations
Energize Delaware and The Food Bank of Delaware recently unveiled a fleet of four electric vehicles and accompanying EV charging stations.
A $300,000 investment from Energize Delaware enables the Food Bank to replace four aging, gas-dependent vehicles and reduce its carbon footprint.
Energize Delaware Executive Director Drew Slater said, “We’re proud to fund four electric vehicles and Level II chargers for the Food Bank of Delaware, bolstering their sustainability and advancing clean energy solutions across the state.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Energize Delaware for this meaningful investment in our mission,” said Cathy Kanefsky, Food Bank of Delaware president and CEO. “These electric vehicles will help reduce travel costs as we increase our outreach in vulnerable communities that have been disproportionately impacted by both the pandemic and inflation. From a long-term perspective, these vehicles demonstrate our shared commitment to environmental sustainability.”
Charging stations at the Food Bank’s Newark and Milford facilities are available at no cost to community members who need to charge their electric vehicles.
