Ernest Edward Megee Jr., plumbing co. owner
Ernest Edward Megee Jr., 93, of Georgetown, passed away Tuesday July 10, 2012, at home, in the arms of his loving wife.
Mr. Megee was born the son of the late Ernest E. and Ressie (Scarborough ) Megee. Mr. Megee was the owner of Megee Plumbing and Heating for 60 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown.
Mr. Megee was the president of Megee Plumbing and Heating; instituted the Delaware Council 20 degree of Pocahontas in Rehoboth; instituted Delaware Great Council of Red Men 1 in Wilmington; organized All American Degree Team in Rehoboth; he was on the original board of the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission, president of the Sussex County Youth, member of the Department of Public Recreation of Rehoboth, master of Henlopen Grange 20 Board of Directors and served on the advisory Committee of Sussex Trust and Wilmington Trust. He was also a member Indian River Tribe 37, Improved Order of Redmen; 32 Degree member of the Masonic Order, Kent and Sussex Scottish Rite Club, and served on the vestry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Georgetown.
In addition to both parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Arnelda Ellis Megee; a brother William V. Megee; and a sister Isabelle Quinn. He is survived by his wife of four years, Judy (de Fague) Megee; a son, Ernest E. Megee III and wife Beatrice of Georgetown, and Patricia A. Megee Reimer and husband John of Harbeson; stepchildren Peter Boissiere and wife Teresa of Ohio, Bernadette Magan and husband Bill of North Carolina, Rhonda Ruiz and husband Steven of Newark, and John Anderson and wife Karen of Smyrna; a sister Elva E. Nickle of Delaware City; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday July 14, in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 East Market Street, Georgetown, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be Union Cemetery Georgetown.
