Evelyn was born Sunday, March 4, 1928, in Rehoboth Beach. She graduated in 1946 from Rehoboth High School. Her interests there included the Drama Club, and the varsity basketball and field hockey teams. She very much enjoyed horseback riding. She was the valedictorian of her class. She married her lifelong love, Harvey Roberts Jr., Oct. 8, 1947. They moved to Baltimore, Md., shortly after their marriage. Evelyn was employed by the Social Security Administration and the Community United Methodist Church of Pasadena, Md. Her favorite vocation was raising her family. She received a Governor's Citation of Merit Award from the Baltimore City Department of Social Services for her dedication to foster care. Evelyn and Harvey retired in 1986 to Ocean View, where she continued to build an even larger family of friends and acquaintances. She lived her life by the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Evelyn will be dearly missed by her many friends and family.

Nottingham, Phoebe K. Roberts, and Patricia A. Roberts; brothers-in-law, Herman Smith and A.J. Nottingham. Evelyn is survived by her husband, soul mate and best friend of 64 years, Harvey Emmett Roberts Jr. She will be held forever in the hearts of her three daughters, Deborah Skovron and husband Walter Skovron of Pasadena, Terry Roberts Witham and husband Oliver Karcher of St. John, Virgin Islands, and Ruthanne Jacobs and husband Dennis Jacobs of Ocean View; as well as in the hearts of her foster children, Mary Lippert, Bernadette Huth, Marshall Huth and Corbie Freeburger. Her love lives on through her brother-in-law, Talbert Roberts of Georgetown, and sister-in-law, Gertrude Smith of Laurel, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m., at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be private.
