Excellence in music at Mary Mother of Peace

March 4, 2025

I recently attended a piano recital by world-renowned Mădălina-Claudia Dănilă and Hugh Sung performed at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro. This couple performed classical pieces by composers Melanie Bonis, Cecile Chaminade and Claude Debussy, among others. They also played a folk suite from Dobrogea (region of Romania), their own arrangement. Their talent was incredible to watch and hear. I was so overjoyed by their performance.

At 3 p.m., Sunday, March 16, at Mary Mother of Peace, a St. Patrick’s concert will be performed by Irish tenor Mark Forrest, accompanied by John Paul Kaplan. They will also have the adult and children’s choir join them. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by going to smammop.com.

Why I am writing about these performances is to let persons outside the parish know what they have been missing. I have attended many musical performances organized by equally talented Paul Szczerowski, music director at Mary Mother of Peace, who brings various performers, all renowned, to entertain us. These have all been remarkable recitals/concerts worth the time and donation. And they really should not be missed.

Come and enjoy!
