Fairfield Inn & Suites celebrates 10 years in Rehoboth area

The Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott outside Rehoboth Beach celebrated its 10th anniversary March 26.

The hotel is owned by Hudson Management of Lewes. Co-owner Jamin Hudson was on hand to thank employees. He said when the hotel opened, it was the first Marriott hotel in the Delaware beaches area. Construction started at the tail end of the financial crisis, and the hotel operated successfully through COVID, he said.

“It’s been a colorful journey,” said Hudson.

Sporting a T-shirt from opening day, General Manager Jerry Bellestri has been there since the hotel opened in 2015.

This property and its employees are incredible, said Bellestri. It’s really become part of the community, he said.

The hotel recently underwent a significant renovation that included all new carpets, wall vinyl, window treatments, lighting and guest room entertainment.

The team did a great job working through the renovations, said Hudson.

As part of the celebration, the hotel purchased a dozen subs from Jersey Mike’s. The sandwich shop happened to be celebrating its Day of Giving, which is when local Jersey Mike’s owners and operators donate every dollar that comes in to local charities. All the Jersey Mike’s in Delaware were supporting SL24: Unlocke the Light Foundation, which aims to end the stigma related to mental health. The foundation is named after Sean Locke, a Delawarean who played basketball at the University of Delaware. He took his own life in 2018.

Supporting this charity on the day of the hotel’s birthday seemed like a good thing to do, said Bellestri.
