Fall foliage boat tour bookings benefit Mill Pond Garden

October 16, 2024

Mill Pond Garden is the only professional botanical garden in the Cape Region, dedicated to providing the advantages of professional horticulture guidance and mostly native displays tailored to local growing conditions.

During October, as a fundraiser to help meet the increasing cost of the annual tulip planting, a private boat excursion eco-tour to see the fall foliage along Red Mill Pond can be booked for a minimum $200 donation.

Led by a knowledgeable guide on a comfortable, quiet, battery-powered pontoon boat, tours can be booked for a party of up to five individuals at a time of the donor’s convenience. The pond’s 11 miles of shoreline boast stately homes, abundant waterfowl and wildlife, beautiful wetlands and a floating island.

Because there is no public or commercial access to the 150-acre pond, booking a tour will offer a rare opportunity to see its beauty.

For more information, search Story of Red Mill Pond, a 2019 Cape Gazette blog post by Harrison Howeth. To make arrangements for the boat tour, email millpondgarden@gmail.com.

Mill Pond Garden is located off Minos Conaway Road at 31401 Melloy Court, Lewes.
