Father Daniel J. McCloskey, former pastor
Father Daniel J. McCloskey, former pastor of St. Michael the Archangel in Georgetown and its mission church, Mary Mother of Peace in Oak Orchard, from 2000 until his retirement last year, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, in New Brunswick, N.J. He was 62 years old and had endured various medical issues over the past several years.
Father McCloskey was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and attended Catholic schools there. He attended Holy Apostles College in Cromwell, Conn. and St. Mary’s Seminary, Baltimore, Md., before being ordained to the priesthood in 1983. In addition to his last assignment as pastor, he also served as associate pastor and administrator at various parishes throughout the Diocese of Wilmington.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Rosary Church in Wilmington followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. Memorial Masses will be celebrated at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Georgetown and at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, at Mary Mother of Peace Church, Oak Orchard.
