January 11, 2022
An afternoon fire Jan. 10 caused $250,000 in damage to a home on Gravel Hill Road.
Georgetown firefighters arrived about 12 p.m. at a single-family home in the 18000 block of Gravel Hill Road to find smoke and flames coming from the structure, said John Galaska, chief deputy state fire marshal.
The fire was determined to be accidental in nature and was caused by an unknown malfunction of an appliance, Galaska said. There were no reported injuries to persons or firefighters, he said, but two dogs perished in the fire. Damage is estimated at $250,000, Galaska said.
