First responders to host Dewey Beach Public Safety Day
First responders from throughout the county will join together for Dewey Beach Public Safety Day from 12 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, in the Lions Club parking lot.
Dewey Beach Police Chief Constance Speake said she hopes to see plenty of children at the event, where they can meet local community heroes and enjoy a variety of games and activities.
In addition to moon bounces, a balloon artist, face painting, a petting zoo and giveaways, there will be hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages on hand, she said. A DJ will keep everyone entertained, and a K-9 team and fire department will do demonstrations for the audience.
Police departments from Ocean View, Bethany, South Bethany, Dagsboro, Rehoboth, Lewes, Fenwick Island, Milton and Milford will join Delaware State Police, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Rehoboth Volunteer Fire Company, Sussex County EMS, the Coast Guard and National Guard to meet with community members.
Envirotech, Delaware Department of Transportation, Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement and the Cape Henlopen School District Bookmobile will also be present.
The Dewey Beach Lions Club is located at 115 McKinley Ave. Parking will be free in the Town of Dewey Beach effective Monday, Sept. 16.
