Four charged in Tanger outlet shoplifting
Four Salisbury residents face shoplifting charges after police say they stole merchandise from Coach, Nike and other outlet stores Oct. 5.
Police were called at 5:17 p.m. to the Coach Outlet at the Midway outlets and told that four people had stolen items from the store and fled in a white Ford Expedition with Vermont registration, police said.
Police found the Expedition parked in front of the Nike store in the Bayside outlets and searched the vehicle, finding shoplifting tools, and more than $1,500 in stolen merchandise from Coach, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria’s Secret/PINK, and Bath & Body Works. The four people were unable to produce receipts for the merchandise, police said. Video surveillance showed the four people shoplifting from Coach, police said.
Police arrested Monica Parks, 33, Samuel Jones, 58, Ja’ni Lewis, 24, and Calvin Schoolfield, 36, and charged them with felony possession of shoplifters tool, felony shoplifting over $1,500 from three or more separate mercantile establishments, felony second-degree conspiracy, and four counts of shoplifting under $1,500. Lewis was also charged with traffic violations from Maryland, and he was released on $6,500 unsecured bond. Jones was released on $2,300 unsecured bond, and the other two were released on their own recognizance.
