Frank M. McLaughlin, salesman, Realtor

Frank M. McLaughlin, 96, of Lewes, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.  He was born Nov. 30, 1916, on Thanksgiving Day in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Frank and Ada (Lund) McLaughlin.

As a young man, Mr. McLaughlin trained as a printer in New York City. Shortly after, he was called to serve his country honorably in World War II.  Mr. McLaughlin initially produced parts for the military then served as a second lieutenant in the Army in China and Korea.  After the war he returned to New York and worked for numerous newspapers in the city and Long Island.

After retirement he relocated to Lewes with his wife Edith.  He then embarked on a second career as a kerosene heater salesman and Realtor.  Mr. McLaughlin enjoyed bowling at the local alleys, even after becoming blind. He was a terrific volunteer at the Children's Beach House in Lewes.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by his wife Edith in 2006; one brother, David McLaughlin; and his two sisters:  Grace Downs and Charlotte McLaughlin.  He is survived by his daughter:  Ellen Conway and husband Tom of Lewes; two grandsons:  Matt Conway of Charlotte, N.C. and Frank Conway of Phoenix. Ariz.; three nephews:  Michael Downs; Steven Downs and Glen McLaughlin; and two nieces: Diane Tehan and Sandy Astle.

The family would like to thank Delaware Hospice, especially home health aide Katina Rosario, his nurses and the staff at the Delaware Hospice Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 17, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.  Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m.   Interment will immediately follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.
