Fun blooms at annual dance party

When the Funsters take the stage, the fun begins.
One of the beach’s favorite bands headlined the fourth annual Rehoboth in Bloom Bloomin’ Dance Party at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center March 28.
Hundreds of people stepped up to support the organization by stepping out for a night on the dance floor.
Dancers of all skill levels showed off their moves. Doug and Pam Lynch could have competed on “Dancing with the Stars.” They rarely took a break all night.
Jesscia Ringer, a dance party regular, and her brother Eric had a different mission.
“I like swing dancing,” Jessica said. “I’ve been trying to teach my brother the Lindy Hop for years.”
The fundraiser allows the all-volunteer garden group to buy the flowers that beautify downtown Rehoboth Beach.
“When you order 1,050 flowers, you have to find a way to pay for it,” said Cindy Lovett, Rehoboth in Bloom chair. “I’m really excited to have the Funsters. The whole [dance] committee, led by Jill Shull, really stepped up this year.”
Rehoboth in Bloom is a program of Rehoboth Beach Main Street. Dan Slagle, RBMS executive director, said they are excited by the work the Rehoboth in Bloom volunteers do.
“It’s important to have your town looking beautiful when you arrive for visitors and residents. We know a lot of time and energy goes into making downtown beautiful,” Slagle said.
Rehoboth in Bloom is responsible for 110 planters on Rehoboth, Baltimore and Wilmington avenues, and four gardens around town.
The group’s 80 volunteers will be out planting in early May.
The Bloomin’ Dance Party also included a silent auction.
Megan Kee, owner of the Megan Collective restaurant group, donated one of the most sought-after items: dinner for up to 10 people at one of her restaurants in Rehoboth Beach or Lewes.
