Genevieve Ann Toth, amazing sense of humor
Genevieve Ann Toth, 75, simply known to all as Jean, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born at home July 27, 1948, in Perth Amboy, N.J., daughter of the late Paul and Genevieve Pachucki.
Jean was a longtime resident of Sayreville, N.J. She worked as a laboratory assistant at UMDNJ in Piscataway, N.J., before moving on as a laboratory assistant at Gist-Brocades in East Brunswick, N.J. In 1997, Jean received her associate degree in psychosocial rehabilitation from Middlesex County College, graduated with honors, and received an award for clinical excellence. She worked in the field for several years before moving to Lewes in December 2003.
Jean was an avid reader, sometimes reading a book in a day. She always had an artistic flair which frequently came out as elaborate doodles on any piece of paper lying nearby, as she talked to family and friends on the phone, or while sitting quietly on her own. Jean was also known to be very strong-willed in her opinion, holding fast whether it was a matter of politics, or if she was certain the item she was buying was on sale when it rang up at full price. Along with her convictions, she was always there to help and provide invaluable advice. Even more, Jean had an amazing sense of humor, and spending any amount of time with her would never be without laughter. Most of all, Jean loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was holiday gatherings, cookouts in the backyard, going out and spending hours with a few bushels of crabs, or simply sitting around the house talking or enjoying a good movie or television show. For all who have had the pleasure of knowing her, she has left an indelible impression in our minds and our hearts.
In addition to her loving parents, Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Pachucki; and her brother-in-law, Steven Koy. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Gary Toth; her son, Richard Toth (Susan); her daughter, Carol Danila; her granddaughters, Audrey Toth and Genevieve Faries; her sisters, Carol Koy and Cathy Freeman (John); her sister-in-law, Joyce Pachucki; and her many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of a funeral service, there will be a gathering at John C. Bartlett Jr. County Park at Berkeley Island in Berkeley Township, N.J., to be announced in the future.
Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Aktins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
