The engineering and architectural firm of George, Miles & Buhr LLC recently announced the selection of new President Charles M. O’Donnell III, PE, who will step into the role Wednesday, Jan. 1, upon the retirement of current President James H. Willey Jr., PE.
GMB has served the Delaware, Maryland and Virginia region for nearly 65 years, flourishing under the leadership of Willey, who joined the firm in 1996 and took the helm in 2010. Willey has guided GMB to consistent growth over the past decade. The GMB board selected O’Donnell for his remarkable ability to lead, manage, facilitate and mentor.
Willey said, “Charlie O’Donnell is the ultimate professional, with unbridled enthusiasm for the work he does, and a tireless advocate for all things GMB.”
Willey and O’Donnell are working diligently to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
O’Donnell said, “Jim has successfully dedicated the past 15 years of his career in leading GMB, and I eagerly await the opportunity to work with our incredible team here at GMB. Their skill level, dedication and professional passion are the reason for our thriving architectural and engineering practice.”
O’Donnell joined GMB in June 1989, initially serving as project engineer on a variety of civil engineering projects, progressing to project director and trusted advisor to the City of Lewes. O’Donnell earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Delaware and a master of business administration degree from Wilmington University. He holds professional registrations in Delaware and Maryland, and has more than 30 years of consulting engineering experience.
