George W. Sherman, avid outdoorsman

George W. Sherman, 85,  of Milton, passed away at home Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015.

George was born in Milton, son of the late Willard Walter and Elizabeth (Shockley) Sherman.

He worked alongside his wife, the late Patsy (Wash) Sherman, for over 30 years at their family owned and operated business, George Sherman Corporation. He retired, as president, in 1992. Although his work was very important to him, he was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed all kinds of hunting, fishing and gardening.

George was a life member of the Milton Volunteer Fire Company and had served as vice president from 1962-64.

He is survived by a son, Dean Sherman; daughter-in-law, Margaret “Meg” Sherman; two grandchildren, Reanna Sherman and Brendan Sherman, all of Milton; and one sister, Betty Towers and her husband William, of Concord.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation Monday, Dec. 14,  from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Harbeson Cemetery.
