George William Nitsch Jr., had distinguished career
George William Nitsch Jr., 80, known to his family and friends as Bill, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2025.
Bill was born June 3, 1944, in Baltimore, Md., and was a proud Mount St. Joseph High School graduate. He went on to have a distinguished career as a senior cybersecurity engineer as a Department of Defense contractor within the intelligence community.
Bill was a man of many interests. He was an avid lover of crossword puzzles and solitaire. In his earlier years, he enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was also a devoted dog lover. His many golden retrievers brought him great joy. Bill was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church and for many years, he attended the Adoration Chapel. He held a special devotion to St. Jude.
Bill is survived by his wife, Viki Nitsch; daughters, Colleen Katz and Rita Yokell (Larry) of Colorado, and Allison Joyce (Charlie) of Baltimore; his brothers, Edward Nitsch and Dean Nitsch (Jessica); his sisters, Mary Wilson (Bill) and Betsy Ballwanz (Mitch); and his cherished grandchildren, Kayla Mitchell (Dylan), Rachael Warren (Kyle), Abigail Young, Bryce Young, and Virginia, MJ, and Kai Joyce.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George William Nitsch Sr. and Rita (Heaney) Nitsch; and his stepmother, Gloria (Purner) Nitsch.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Bill to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
