Regular runners and families love the library race
June 19, 2023

The 18th annual Georgetown Library 5K is always run on a Friday night as the first race in the Seashore Striders’ Triple Crown Series weekend. The weather has been mostly unsettled. The watermelon is great; the field of runners is always small.

A total of 65 runners completed the course, led by the Harrington Harrier Matt Sparacino in 18:07. Enos Benbow, the Georgetown Jamaican, was second overall and won the masters race in 20:01.

Katie Kuhlman, working her way back from injury, cruised the course in 22:30 to win the women’s race. Tanya Karaman, 53, was the overall women’s masters champion in 22:46.

Notables: Jimmy Harden, 18, 21:51, and James Harden, 52, 22:13, both of Martinsville, Va., ran the race together. Laura Marvin, 37, 24:08; Jim Marvin, 72, 40:12; and Linda Marvin, 73, 44:47, all of Laurel, run most of the Seashore Striders races.
