Georgetown man charged with home improvement fraud

October 26, 2022

A Georgetown man faces home improvement fraud over contracts he did not complete, police say.

Delaware State Police began investigating Michael Waller, 32, in June and July after receiving complaints that his company, Waller Precision, did not complete two residential construction projects, one in Selbyville and the other in Millsboro, said Sr. Cpl. Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police.

Police learned Waller failed to fulfill contract agreements after residents paid him a significant amount of money to complete projects by early 2022, DeMalto said. Waller had stopped communicating with the victims and did not reimburse any funds, he said.

On Oct. 25, DeMalto said Waller turned himself in to Troop 4 where he was charged with felony home improvement fraud over $1,500 and victim is 62 or older, and felony home improvement fraud over $1,500. Waller was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.

The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Financial Crimes Unit continues to investigate similar cases involving Waller, and detectives ask anyone who may have been defrauded in a similar manner to contact the Financial Crimes Unit by calling 302-856-5850. Information may also be provided by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or at delawarecrimestoppers.com.
