GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club installs new officers

July 21, 2024

At its June meeting, the GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club installed board members for 2024-26, and Lynn Barberi, outgoing president, passed the gavel to incoming President Joyce Skrobot.

A North Wilmington native, Skrobot relocated in 2021 to Lewes, where she and her late husband John and their family had vacationed since 2004.

With a professional background in elementary education, Skrobot now volunteers locally with Read Aloud Delaware, Lewes Elementary School, Lewes Senior Activity Center and Lewes in Bloom.

Since joining the club, she has served on numerous committees, and has chaired the education and libraries committee. As president, Skrobot said, she will strive to inspire and encourage members to embrace opportunities to serve the community and to guide the club in its continued growth as a progressive organization.

Additional board members who took office July 1 are Kim Ash, vice president; Penelope Moreland-Gunn, treasurer; Sue Crawford, recording secretary; Eileen Spangler, corresponding secretary; and Joyce Bauchner, parliamentarian.

Barberi will remain on the board as state director to the GFWC Delaware Board. During her two-year term, there was a membership increase of over 25%, and Zwaanendael Club members are grateful for her leadership and guidance.

The GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose members are public-spirited women serving and improving the community.
