Girl Scouts to hold summer day camps July 15-19 and Aug. 5-9

The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay announces summer day camps July 15-19 and Aug. 5-9.

For girls in kindergarten through eighth grade, Camp Sandy Pines Day Camp will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, July 15-19, in Fruitland, Md. This camp offers a fun and educational summer camp experience for all girls. Trained volunteers present programs that help girls learn about themselves, others and nature.

This camp is known for its tree houses and its proximity to the beach. The week will also include a trip to Camp Todd in Denton, Md. for zip-line and boating fun.

The cost is $120 for girls in K-5th grades and $150 for girls in grades 6 to 8. Financial assistance may be available. For more information contact Jen Smullen atcbgs97@yahoo.com or 443-614-0453.

Girl Scouts Summer Day Camp will also be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, Aug. 5-9 at the Gumboro Community Center, 36849 Millsboro Highway, Millsboro. All girls entering grades K to 6 in the fall of 2013 are welcome to attend. The cost is $50 per camper for current Girl Scouts and $62 per camper for non-Girl Scouts.

Girl Scout programs are available to all girls entering first through 12th grades in the fall of 2013. For those who are not currently Girl Scouts, there will be an additional $12 charge to register as a Girl Scout for insurance purposes.
