Lewes Girl Scout Troop 168 members recently visited Lewes City Hall and Lewes Police Department to work toward earning their Democracy Badges, and learn about local leaders and government ahead of the 2024 election.
The girls were intrigued as Ellen Lorraine McCabe, Lewes city manager, showed them around Lewes City Hall and answered questions about how the city is run.
Officer Phillip Poorman and Sgt. Jonathan Moyer then led the Scouts on a tour of the Lewes Police Department and showed them a Lewes police car. The scouts learned about the justice system and the process of making an arrest in Lewes, along with police initiatives that help keep their small town safe.
The girls were grateful for all they learned and for the time everyone took to answer all their questions.
