Gloria J. Clausen, devoted wife, mother

July 12, 2022

Gloria J. Clausen, 76, of Georgetown peacefully went to be with the Lord Monday, July 11, 2022.  Gloria was the daughter of the late Robert and Jean Green. She was born  Aug. 14, 1945, in Georgetown. On May 18, 1963, she married the love of her life, Robert Clausen. Together, Gloria and Bob shared 59 years of a loving marriage.

Gloria was a loving and dedicated mother to her four boys, Mark, Keith, Jeffrey and Timothy.  In addition, she was a great sister to her brother, Robert Green, and a loving niece to aunt Carolyn Griffith.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom were the joy of her life.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving Gloria knew that she poured every bit of her life into her family. She was known to never miss an event, no matter how small, and she was sure to mail a hand-written letter for any fitting occasion. She never failed to call and sing happy birthday, wish congratulations on big news, get the scoop on a big day, or simply check in on life and catch up.

Gloria lived her life to the glory of the Lord, the True Vine, bearing many good fruits as outlined in John 15: 4-8. Gloria shared that she took great care to live her life according to these verses.

Gloria was a dedicated nurse who gave endlessly to her patients and their families. She was known to not only give quality care, but also show kindness and genuine compassion for her patients which was simply unmatched. She played piano at Harbeson Methodist Church. Gloria was an avid gardener and lover of flowers and plants of all varieties. She loved any chance she could get to have her hands in the soil to grow something beautiful. She also had a passion for world travel, crafting, genealogy, music (especially traditional hymns), her two cats Leo and Miss Ellie, as well as any opportunity to create a memory with her family.

She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. Gloria’s infectious kindness, witty spirit and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, July 15, at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown. Family and friends may begin visiting at noon.  Pastor Dave Humphrey will officiate. Interment will follow at St. John’s Methodist Cemetery.
