Great Futures Fund hosts end-of-summer party

The Great Futures Fund hosted an end-of-summer party for members of the Oak Orchard/Riverdale Boys & Girls Club Aug. 30. The Great Futures Fund, founded by Leanne Silacato Prosser and Nicole Silacato Miller, provides resources to local children in need. The annual gala, which raised $100,000 last year, provided funding for programs and expansion of the Oak Orchard Club.

The all-day event included a petting zoo, water balloon activities, face painting, inflatables, bounce houses and arts and crafts. Staff members were joined by Futures volunteers.

On the schedule each year at the club are before and afterschool programs, summer camp and preschool for more than 100 members. The club is also close to opening a new section, which will double the size of the existing club near the intersection of Route 24 and Oak Orchard Road.

An addition with extra classrooms will open soon at the site of the Oak Orchard/Riverdale Boys & Girls Club off Route 24 near Long Neck to allow more children to join.
