I am writing in support of Jane Gruenebaum for Sussex County Council District 3. I know Jane better than anyone, as I am her spouse. I get to hear her point of view quite a lot! And I can say with certainty that Jane will bring a new, different and feisty voice to county council.
A voice that will say no to rampant overdevelopment. A voice that will say no to environmental destruction that threatens our health and safety. A voice that will say we need to build the infrastructure – roads, schools, healthcare and veterinary care capacity – to fully serve the population we already have before we add more population.
It's county council that makes the rules that determine where and how it's OK to build. It's county council that appoints the members of the planning & zoning commission. And it's the P&Z commissioners who use those rules to empower the developers to create vast housing developments in the absence of the roads and schools and water management needed to support them.
Had enough of the resulting traffic? Worry about the ability of ambulances and fire trucks to get to emergencies on time? Noticed the flooding that's already taking place as developers cut down thousands of acres of trees? These things affect all of us: Republicans, Democrats and unaffiliated voters alike.
So if like me you're feeling the pain: Vote for Jane.
Check out www.janeforsussex.com. And please, when you vote Tuesday, Nov. 5, go all the way to bottom of the ballot to where the county council candidates are and vote for a real change. Vote for Jane Gruenebaum.
