Gustav Kwadwo Atta Ofosu, retired professor

Surrounded by family and friends, Dr. Gustav Kwadwo Atta Ofosu departed this life Sunday, May 29, 2016. He was born March 9, 1939, in Akropong-Akuapem, Ghana, West Africa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister Esther Ofosua; sister Lydia; and brothers Isaac and Owusu.
Dr. Ofosu, also affectionately known as Doc and Gus, was a retired professor and chairman of Department of Biology, Delaware State University, retiring in 2008 after 41 years of teaching. After retirement, he was awarded the status of Professor Emeritus at DSU. He was loved by his students, and known by his catch phrase, “Biology, is easy my friend!”
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 47 years, Dr. Mildred Huff Ofosu; three adult children, twin daughters, Asua of Dover, Asi of Bryans Road, Md., and son Jasper (Natasha), and one granddaughter, Sophia, all of Alexandria, Va.; brothers: Alfred Kissiedu (Lucy) of Bronx, N.Y. and Asiama Kissiedu of Tema, Ghana-West Africa; as well as a host other relatives, former students and friends.
Home going services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 18, at Calvary Baptist Church Route 8, Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday evening, June 17, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover and 9:30 to 11 a.m., Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
