Gwendolyn Coburn-Saunders, Giant Foods retiree
Gwendolyn V. Coburn-Saunders, 65, of Millsboro, passed away suddenly Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at her residence. She was born in Plainfield, N.J., Sunday, Nov. 10, 1946, daughter of the late James Rudolph Foster Sr. and Hilda E. (Green) Foster.
Mrs. Coburn-Saunders has been a resident of Delaware since May 2009, previously living in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Before retiring to Delaware, she worked for Giant Foods in Pennsylvania in the floral department and later moved into their human resources department, working there for the next 10 years. She loved traveling and photography. She will be sorely missed by her husband, daughter, grandchildren, brother and all that knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Saunders, whom she married Jan. 27, 2009; one daughter, Veronica B. Coburn of Conyers, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jacquelyn I. Gallmon and Robert A. Gallmon, both of Conyers; one brother, James R. Foster Jr. of Plainfield; one nephew, Quincy S. Foster; and a host of cousins and their families.
A funeral service will be held at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins- Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 30, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.
Burial will immediately follow the service at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
