As a lifelong Delawarean, I am supporting retired U.S. Army Col. Debbie Harrington to be our next lieutenant governor of Delaware. Although the Democratic party chose not to endorse an African American at the state level, I believe it is crucial that Black Delawareans are represented since we are overrepresented in areas of the criminal justice system, poor education, rate of poverty, lack of homeownership and lagging seriously in economic wealth.
As a retired military veteran, Harrington is the only candidate to have sacrificed and served her country in the military, thereby bringing a wealth of prior leadership skills and knowledge, having served as a battalion commander and commissioned officer. Her credentials speak for themselves, as someone capable of leading from Day 1. As a combat veteran of valor, she is accustomed to earning accolades and merit through her integrity, loyalty and dedicated service of 25 years. She will not take Delawareans’ votes and trustworthiness lightly. She will serve and support all Delawareans, whether veterans, first responders, teachers, marginalized communities and everyday hardworking citizens. Debbie realizes that “a rising tide should lift all boats, not just some, all,” and when our state thrives in early childhood education, K-12 education, affordable housing and food, support for our veterans, there will be low crime rates in all communities in Delaware. She is someone who will work across the aisle to keep Delaware a best place to live, work and grow businesses and entrepreneurship to benefit all.
For Delaware to embrace growth and progress, please accept new talent and include diverse ideas with global perspectives at the top of Delaware’s Democratic ticket. To speak for all Delawareans, all Delawareans must have representation and a seat at the table. Debbie will not leave any Delawarean behind!
