Harvey ‘Bud’ Pryor, retired from law enforcement

Harvey “Bud” Edward Pryor, 81, of Ocean View, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at his home.

Harvey started his career in law enforcement in 1958 with the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, and was then appointed in 1962 to the White House Police, and retired in 1983 as chief of the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division.  After his retirement, he worked for a short period of time with the Inspector General’s Office, GSA and as vice president at Vance International.  Harvey also worked as a part-time starter marshal at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course in Ocean View. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Anita Patricia (Hiponia) Pryor; four children, Tom (Kathy) Pryor, John (Robin) Pryor, Rick (Donna) Pryor and Michelle (Jody) Pearre; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Lauren, Joey, Sydney, Hunter, Brady and Luke; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Brooks and Jayden; a sister, Mary Frances MacDonald; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 35318 Church Road, Frankford.  Interment will be held privately.
