The employees of G & E Inc. and Hocker’s Super Center in Ocean View and Millville support the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter each year by organizing a team to participate in the Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Rehoboth Beach. The HOPE Team, Hocker’s Organized Proud Employees, has participated in the walk every year since 2006. To raise money, they sell paper forget-me-nots for $1 each in memory of or in honor of someone who has or had any type of dementia. The campaign ran from June 25 through July 31 this year with tremendous success. In addition, store manager Ron Holloway organized a bake sale that was held June 30.
The cashiers who sold the most forget-me-nots are Katie Averell, Lauren Hazlett, Kayla Blake, Crystal Scullen, Elaine Knagg and Alison Saylor.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held at Grove Park in Rehoboth Saturday, Oct. 13, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. There is no registration fee, and anyone can register online at www.alz.org/desjsepa or by calling Jamie Magee at 302-854-9788 or toll free at 800-272-3900.
