The annual Hockey 4 Haxton Scholarship Indoor Hockey Tournament was played Dec. 22-23 in the gym at Milton Elementary School. The adult pool was played Saturday, and the U19, U16 and U14 pool was played Sunday. The tourney raised about $1,100 each for the H4H Scholarship and Easter Seals Rehab Facility.
The Hockey 4 Haxton tournament was created in memory of Amanda Haxton, a player for Cape Henlopen High School and Delaware Shore Field Hockey who passed away in 2008. Haxton’s former teammates, friends, coaches and players who didn’t know her but love the game and want to help the cause compete in the tournament one weekend out of the year to honor her. The event is run by Amanda's former teammate Danielle Renken Roach and sponsored by Delaware Shore Field Hockey. Many parents, coaches, refs and players were involved in making this tournament possible.
The Class of 2019 scholarship recipient was Lacy Bayley, a senior at Polytech. She will be attending Slippery Rock University in the fall.
