After months of construction, and just in time for Black Friday, Homesense is scheduled to open Thursday, Nov. 21.
Located in Coastal One Plaza off Route 1 outside Rehoboth Beach, the new store is taking over the former andThat! space.
According to a Nov. 8 press release from the company, Homesense features a wide array of furniture, rugs, wall art, mirror gallery, an extensive lighting department, seasonal items, décor, entertaining essentials and bedding. The press release says prices are all 20% to 50% less than full-price retailers, including department and specialty stores.
“We are thrilled that those in the Rehoboth Beach community can look to Homesense for a standout shopping experience and unlock unlimited design possibilities in their homes,” said John Ricciuti, president of HomeGoods and Homesense in the U.S.
Homesense originated in Canada in 2001, expanded into Europe in 2008, and then into the United States in 2017. There are 68 Homesense stores in the U.S. The business is part of the TJX Companies corporation, which also runs Marshalls, HomeGoods, T.J. Maxx, Sierra, Winners and T.K. Maxx.
The T.J. Maxx directly beside the new Homesense opened in October 2023.
In addition to Homesense and T.J. Maxx, the shopping center is also home to PetSmart and Aldi. Up until 2017, a Kmart occupied all of the 56,700-square-foot building.
That company said that in celebration of its new store location, it will contribute to the Rehoboth Beach community by presenting a $10,000 donation to Family Promise of Southern Delaware. The group’s mission is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence.
Homesense, 19563 Coastal Hwy., will open at 8 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 21. Normal operating hours are 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., seven days a week.
