Huxtable called on to help Anthem community

January 31, 2023

The following letter was sent to Sen. Russ Huxtable with a copy provided to the Cape Gazette for publication.

I am writing to you as a very frustrated homeowner who bought a home on a premium lot with the open space behind my house. And, I do know you have been made aware of the ongoing issues (flooding and the resulting problems) that we are facing. We have been notified by Jessica Watson at Sussex Conservation District that efforts to alleviate the problem of flooding around and on the walking paths on the open space and around the pool areas will be addressed. However, we still have the mud pits and this is unacceptable. When we bought our home, we were informed the open space would have trees and a meadow for our view. Looking out at a barren mud pit is upsetting.

As a newly elected senator, I am sure you would prefer to have your name associated with a community that is proud of your efforts as the developer of Anthem. This reflects on your role as our representative. When we walk around our community, every section of Anthem either has lovely fountains or wooded areas lined with trees. We are only asking that you take care of this issue and give us something pleasant to see when we look out our back doors.
