Irene Louisa Mitchell, hatchery worker

Irene Louisa Mitchell, 76, of Millsboro was born April 18, 1942, to the late Beaulah Hall and Dave Holland.  She was married to Frederick Mitchell Sr. in August 1972.

Irene worked for Golden Pride Hatchery in Bishopville, Md., for numerous years.  Even though Irene's health began to fail she still helped to raise her grandchildren and great-grandbabies who loved her very much.  Irene was preceeeded in death by her son Michael Mitchell.

Irene leaves to mourn her one daughter, Pamela Mitchell; four sons: Frederick Mitchell, Kevin (Ida) Mitchell, Kenneth (Young) Mitchell and Bruce (Deniece) Mitchell; 20 grandchildren: Michael (Sherry) Mitchell, Rasheba (Donald) Dismuke, Frederica (Oliver) Bickerstaff, Frederick Mitchell III, Marketta Johnson, Daryn Mitchell, Nicholas Mitchell, Kennetha Langford, Tia Mitchell, Melanye Jackson, Eva Petrie, Kenneth Mitchell Jr., Rosaria Mitchell, Charleston Petre, Lashanna Wescott, Qwennata Austin, Patrice Cirwithian, Gretchen Cirwithian, Mia Mitchell and Tiant Handy; 40 great-granchildren; and two great-great-granchildren; special daughters: Patricia Green, Betty Jo Bailey, Curtistene Mitchell, Lolita Peters, Shiela Fosquie-Manuel and Helen Hopkins; special sons: Dennis Newsome and Bryan Williams; special granddaughters: Natasha Carter and Kimberlea Day; two brothers-in-law, Edgar (Teresa) Mitchell and Sylvester (Helen) Mitchell; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and family.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday July 11, from 1 to 3 p.m., at God’s People for Purpose Ministries, 31035 Country Gardens, Dagsboro. Professional service entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Millsboro.
