Irish Eyes Open committee members presented a check for $130,000 to the Rehoboth Beach Boys & Girls Club at Irish Eyes Pub and Restaurant in Lewes April 18.

“Last year we raised $130,000,” said Irish Eyes Open Chair Jim Logullo. “This is to kick off the event June 12-13.”

The event, which will feature a golf tournament at The Peninsula in Millsboro, will include a raffle, silent auction, live auction, live band, fundraiser and helicopter ball drop, said Zaida Guajardo, regional development director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. “Everyone will choose a number at the raffle,” Guajardo said, “and then a helicopter will drop golf balls with numbers on them onto one of the holes. Whoever’s number is closest will win $3,000.”

“Next year our goal is to raise $140,000,” Logullo said. “We want to continually increase the amount.”

“It’s important to us to support our community,” said Maryellen Kiernan, Irish Eyes events and marketing manager.
